Job summary

Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. seeks an Operator Training and Simulation Program Manager in Carmel, IN.

You will lead high-fidelity simulation training and drills that enhance operator readiness across the grid, partnering with operations, technology and industry partners to ensure reliable performance under all conditions. Responsibilities include lifecycle design of scenarios, establishing a safe learning environment, and developing evaluation frameworks with competency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, or related field ( or equivalent experience).
• 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Prior control room operator or engineer experience strongly preferred.
• Hands-on expertise with GE EMS or equivalent control room simulator platforms.
• Demonstrated skill in scenario-based training design and facilitation in high-stakes environments.
• Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate simulation training and operator drills for control room operators and engineers.
• Lead full lifecycle of simulation scenario design from needs assessment to scripting and testing.
• Build and maintain a library of scenarios spanning normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions.
• Collaborate with Operators, SMEs, engineering teams and system support groups for accuracy.
• Deliver individual and team-based simulation sessions and large-scale drills.
• Conduct pre-briefs and debriefs to reinforce decision-making and operational excellence.
• Adjust facilitation approaches based on participant experience.
• Conduct ongoing training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and prioritize scenarios.
• Align content with NERC standards, procedures, and grid conditions.
• Develop and execute an evaluation framework including competency tracking and assessments.
• Use data insights to strengthen program effectiveness and operator performance.
• Partner with instructional designers and LMS admins for documentation and tracking.
• Support internal and external customers with strong communication and relationship-building.
• Drive improvements in simulation processes, tools and instructional practices.
