Job summary

American Water is seeking a Superintendent, Operations to lead the management and maintenance of water and wastewater distribution networks at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA. You will supervise staff, develop daily work processes, and drive the implementation of EH&S programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in sanitary, chemical, civil, electrical or mechanical engineering, public or business administration or other equivalent degree preferred.
6 years of prior relevant experience, additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the degree.
With a Bachelor’s degree 5+ years’ experience and 2+ years’ experience managing people.
Without a Bachelor’s degree 11+ years’ experience and 2+ years’ experience managing people.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all activities involving the operations and maintenance of the water/wastewater distribution and collections system.
Supervisory responsibilities for employees.
Develop processes for daily staff work functions, oversees use of operational and maintenance information.
Leads implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety programs.
Schedules, coordinates and provides field supervision of staff involved in operational and maintenance activities.
Provide for the training of assigned personnel in work methods, use of tools and equipment, and safety practices.
Orders materials and supplies for routine operations, and preventative and emergency maintenance.
Maintain records and prepare reports.
Assist in the development of departmental standard operating procedures and emergency response plans and procedures.
Performs other related functions as assigned.
