Job summary

Truist seeks an Operational Risk Oversight Officer to join the second line of defense, providing independent oversight of Technology, Data, and Operations risk. The role partners with senior leaders to challenge risk programs and identify risks across assigned areas.

The position is on-site in the United States, requiring 5 days in the office. Base salary ranges from $160,000–$170,000 with additional incentive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in financial-related discipline (accounting, business, finance, etc.) or equivalent education and experience.
• Ten+ years of banking or risk management experience with subject matter expertise in area of oversight and knowledge of Operational and Enterprise Risk Frameworks (including risk identification and assessment).
• Experience with enterprise Governance Risk and Compliance (eGRC) platforms and tools (e.g., RSA Archer).
• Subject matter expertise across business functions such as deposits, consumer lending, payments, investment banking, commercial lending, HR, legal, and finance.
• Strong business acumen, problem solving, critical thinking, influencing, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to operate independently, navigate ambiguity, and deliver high-quality executive work products.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with credibility across management levels.
• Proficiency with data analysis and familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
• Willingness to travel, occasionally overnight.

Responsibilities

• Provides independent risk oversight for Truist Business Units by identifying, monitoring, mitigating, and reporting on operational risks.
• Supports the 1LOD and uses Archer or similar tools to document findings and challenges as required.
• Participates in Business Unit Risk Committees and collaborates with 2LOD partners to stay informed on risk drivers.
• Leads strategic initiatives and designs risk-aware solutions across the organization.
• Fosters proactive risk culture and engages with executives to influence risk outcomes.
• Acts as SME for Operational and Enterprise Risk frameworks and oversees control adequacy to meet risk appetite.
• Monitors regulatory, compliance and audit matters for assigned areas and tracks risk exposures.
