Job summary

Truist is seeking an Operational Risk Oversight Officer to join the second line of defense, overseeing risk across Technology, Data, & Operations. This on-site role requires coordination with executives and risk teams to strengthen the control environment and ensure effective risk management across Truist business units.

The role emphasizes independent oversight, strategic input, and leadership in risk governance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a financial-related discipline or equivalent experience.
Ten+ years banking or risk management experience with knowledge of risk frameworks.
Experience with governance, risk and compliance platforms/tools (e.g., RSA Archer).
Strong business acumen, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Able to travel occasionally and work in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Provide independent risk oversight for Truist BUs by identifying, monitoring, mitigating, and reporting on operational risks.
Review and challenge 1LOD risk program execution; document findings in Archer as prescribed.
Attend BU risk committees and collaborate with 2LOD partners to stay informed on risk drivers.
Lead strategic initiatives and design solutions for complex problems with senior leadership.
Promote proactive risk culture and engage executives to influence outcomes.
Monitor legal, regulatory, compliance and audit matters and ensure timely action.
