Job summary

Truist is seeking an Operational Risk Oversight Officer to join the second line-of-defense risk oversight team for the Technology, Data, & Operations function. This on-site, in-office role requires collaboration with senior leaders to identify, assess, and challenge operational risks, ensuring effective risk programs are in place.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a financial-related discipline or equivalent education and experience.
• 10+ years of banking or risk management experience with expertise in risk identification and assessment.
• Knowledge of enterprise Governance Risk and Compliance (eGRC) platforms and tools such as RSA Archer.
• Strong business acumen, problem solving, critical thinking, influencing, and decision making.
• Willingness to travel occasionally overnight and operate in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

• Provides independent risk oversight for Truist Business Units by identifying, monitoring, mitigating, and reporting on operational risks; escalates key risk matters to senior leaders.
• Reviews and challenges 1LOD Risk Program execution and documents findings per policy.
• Attends BU Risk Committees/Working Groups and collaborates with 2LOD partners to stay informed on risk drivers.
• Participates in strategic initiatives and designs solutions to complex problems using business acumen.
• Strengthens risk culture and engages with executives to influence risk outcomes.
• Acts as SME for Operational and Enterprise Risk frameworks and oversees adequacy of controls.
• Monitors regulatory, compliance and audit matters and ensures timely action on risk exposures.
