Job summary

Nscale is seeking a Senior Operational Engineer to lead cross-service improvements that make our engineering services more reliable, secure, and cost-aware. You will design shared operational capabilities and automation, partnering with service teams to address systemic operational risks.

This hands-on role requires coordinating incident response, improving runbooks and dashboards, and building scalable integrations across Grafana, PagerDuty, Jira, Backstage, and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of experience in operations engineering or similar production-focused role.
• Experience designing and operating shared capabilities for monitoring, alerting, on-call, runbooks, service readiness and reporting.
• Hands-on experience building integrations and automations across Grafana, PagerDuty, Jira, Backstage and public cloud.
• Experience using incident, change, service-health, continuity, patching, or cost data to drive improvement.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the design and delivery of shared operational capabilities and automation.
• Establish practical standards for service ownership, on-call readiness, alerts, dashboards and recovery procedures.
• Partner with service teams to identify and resolve recurring operational issues and blockers.
• Design and improve integrations and workflows across Grafana, PagerDuty, Jira, Backstage, public-cloud platforms and reporting systems.
• Lead incident analysis and corrective-action planning; act as incident commander when needed.
• Build auditable automations that reduce manual work and improve speed and quality of operations.
• Automate operational reporting including SLA performance, health indicators, cost trends, and patching status.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical standard across the team.
• Contribute to continuity testing and focused failure-and-recovery experiments.
