Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Corporate Operational Controller to lead its operations accounting organization, overseeing revenue recognition, forecasting, internal controls, and team development in a large, project-based environment.

Based in North San Jose, CA, this on-site executive role partners with senior leadership to drive financial performance, governance, and automation initiatives across multiple business units and regions.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience in construction/engineering/project-based environments.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP including revenue recognition and long-term contract accounting.
• Experience leading large operational cost accounting teams and developing finance leaders.
• Strong forecasting, internal controls, ERP systems, and executive-level reporting; CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operations accounting function and oversee leadership for multiple units/regions.
• Own enterprise-wide revenue recognition, margin analysis, cash flow forecasting.
• Analyze financial and operational performance metrics to identify trends, risks, opportunities.
• Partner with operational leaders to evaluate project revenue, costs, staffing, and performance.
• Lead succession planning, hiring, development, and performance management for the team.
• Establish internal control frameworks, policies, and governance standards for a growing organization.
• Drive automation initiatives and adoption of new financial technologies.
• Communicate financial performance, forecasts, and strategic insights to executive leadership.
