Job summary

Vaco is seeking an Interim Operational Controller to lead its operations accounting function during a growth and transition period. The role is hybrid with regular in-office attendance in San Jose, CA and spans an anticipated 2 to 4 months.

The candidate should have 15+ years in accounting/finance, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, and proven experience leading large teams, with ERP system expertise and executive-level reporting capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field.
• 15+ years progressive accounting/finance experience in project-based environments.
• Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition for long-term contracts.
• Experience leading large operational accounting functions and teams.
• Experience with ERP systems, forecasting, and executive-level reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operations accounting function and oversee a team of accounting leaders.
• Own revenue recognition, margin reporting, project accounting oversight, and cash flow forecasting.
• Analyze performance trends, identify risks, and report to executives.
• Partner with operations teams on revenue, costs, profitability, and workload projections.
• Develop talent within the accounting organization and establish controls.
