Job summary

LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking an Operating Engineer Master for the Preventive Maintenance Shop. The role involves skilled trades work focusing on mechanical systems, plumbing, and electrical maintenance, with emphasis on energy management systems.

Candidates must hold a 2nd class license in steam boilers and air conditioning, have a valid driver’s license, and be available for emergencies after hours.

Qualifications

• Possession of a 2nd class license in steam boilers and air conditioning.
• Must have a current driver's license.
• Three years of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.
• EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification (Section 608) as required.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance tasks on building mechanical equipment and components.
• Operates, monitors and controls system wide output.
• Operates building mechanical systems including steam boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, HVAC equipment.
• Takes action to stop unsafe acts and inform supervisor when needed.
• Assists other trades with preventive maintenance tasks.
