• Performs minor campus projects including pipefitting, mechanical equipment, electrical circuits and painting.
• Responds promptly to safety concerns and assists other trades with maintenance tasks.

Title: OPERATING ENGINEER MASTER Preventative Maintenance Shop Employee Type: Staff- Classified Department: FACILITIES SYSTEMS Campus Location: PHYSICAL PLANT/ENGINEERS/CLASS

Job Summary/Basic Functions:

This is skilled trades work mainly performing preventative maintenance work on mechanical systems and related fields such as plumbing and electrical.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Performs preventive maintenance tasks on building mechanical equipment and components
• Performs preventive maintenance tasks on pumps, motors, control systems, piping and other equipment
• Operates, monitors and controls system wide output
• Operates building mechanical systems including firing up steam boilers, starting and stopping chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, refrigeration and HVAC equipment
• Perform minor projects as assigned on the entire campus that may include pipefitting, mechanical equipment, electrical circuits and painting
• Takes immediate action to personally stop unsafe acts if delay to inform supervisor may allow accident to occur
• Performs chemical and softener tests
• Blows down boilers
• Reads gauges to check water levels, steam pressure, and operation of valves and auxiliary pumps
• Assist other trades with preventive maintenance tasks
