Job summary

LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans monitors the energy management system on shift, performing rounds, visual inspections, and repairs as assigned to ensure campus operations.

Essential requirements include two Second Class certificates (steam boilers and AC), EPA certification, and a valid driver’s license. Availability for after-hours shifts and holidays is required to respond to emergencies and weather events for campus stability.

Qualifications

  • Possession of 2nd Class Stationary Engineer Certificates for steam boilers and for AC.
  • EPA certification is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Availability for scheduled shift work after hours and on holidays is required.
  • Experience/knowledge of energy management systems is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and control system-wide output.
  • Serve as sole operator on an assigned shift.
  • Operate auxiliaries including boilers, chillers, pumps, towers, HVAC exchangers, refrigeration, and related equipment.
  • Take hourly readings and record data in log sheets; perform chemical & softener tests.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and components.
  • Lead Building Systems personnel and assist other trades as needed; respond to campus emergencies.
