Job summary

LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans seeks an Operating Engineer Master (Building Systems) to monitor the energy management system, perform rounds, and carry out repairs on a rotating shift basis.

The role requires EPA certification, 2nd Class Stationary Engineer certificates for steam boilers and AC, and a valid driver’s license. It is essential staff for campus operations and requires after-hours availability.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience or training in operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.
• EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification where required (Section 608).
• Must possess 2nd Class Stationary Engineer's Certificates for Steam Boilers and Air Conditioning.
• Must have EPA certification.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and control system-wide output and act as sole operator on a shift.
• Perform readings, tests, and inspections; maintain logs and readings.
• Maintain and repair mechanical equipment, pumps, valves, and HVAC components.
• Respond to temperature complaints and safety concerns; assist with emergency operations.
