Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to design and build the software layer that makes our OpenShift platform usable at enterprise scale. You will focus on private cloud solutions enabling Kubernetes-based hypervisor and container platforms, delivering a consistent experience on-prem and in the cloud.

You will develop self-service workflows, platform APIs, controllers/operators, integrations, and tooling in partnership with infrastructure engineering and platform

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Experience delivering production services.
• Proficiency building production systems in Go and/or Python (strong in at least one).
• Knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals (API design, concurrency, failure modes, observability).
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containers in production (Kubernetes primitives, manifests, Helm/Kustomize concepts).
• Experience building platform software for OpenShift/Kubernetes environments (platform APIs, automation services, developer/platform tooling).
• Experience implementing CI/CD practices and toolchains for platform software (testing, versioning, rollback), including GitOps patterns.
• Experience with GitOps and pipeline tooling (Argo CD, Tekton/Jenkins/GitHub Actions).
• Experience applying secure engineering practices in platform services (authN/authZ, secrets handling).
• Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support engineering workflows with validation and data sensitivity awareness.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform services for workload onboarding and lifecycle management (provisioning, quotas, templates).
• Build Kubernetes-native automation, including custom controllers/operators.
• Integrate platform services with identity, secrets, policy, observability, and CMDB patterns.
• Develop tools for multi-cluster operations, cluster onboarding, and compliance reporting.
• Implement CI/CD for platform software with testing, versioning, and rollback strategies.
• Collaborate with infrastructure engineers to define reliability and performance requirements and reduce operational friction through automation.
• Deliver secure, high-quality production code for scalable private cloud infrastructure services.
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex platform components and ensure constraints are met.
• Document platform capabilities through documentation, examples, and reference implementations.
