Job summary

DTEX is seeking a Senior Engineer – OpenSearch to lead the development and optimization of large-scale OpenSearch clusters, with emphasis on our IRM and DLP products. You will collaborate with global teams to advance search technologies and contribute to the OpenSearch community.

The role requires deep OpenSearch internals expertise, strong Python and JVM knowledge, and experience migrating Elasticsearch deployments to OpenSearch 2.x or newer. Hybrid or remote work is possible.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required.
• Deep expertise in OpenSearch internals and handling terabytes of data across multiple nodes.
• Strong Python proficiency and solid understanding of JVM ecosystems.
• Experience migrating large Elasticsearch deployments to OpenSearch 2.x or above.
• Proven ability to design and tune OpenSearch clusters and manage JVM memory and GC.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of large-scale OpenSearch clusters.
• Consult, advise, and mentor internal and external search practitioners.
• Attend client and internal meetings to align solutions with business needs.
• Contribute to the OpenSearch community and engage with upstream projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and open-source contributors to drive innovation.
• Design features, enhancements, and bug fixes for IRM and AI Risk Management products.
• Manage and fine-tune OpenSearch deployments on cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Iterate quickly while maintaining high quality and work with a globally distributed team.
