Job summary

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Short-Term Planning Superintendent to lead mine planning and scheduling for open-pit operations.

You will develop detailed daily, weekly and monthly plans, supervise a team of planners and engineers, and ensure designs are practical, safe and compliant with regulations. You’ll coordinate with the Copper World Integrated project team, review life-of-mine data, and drive continuous improvement in planning processes while managing the planning budget and reporting

Qualifications

• 10+ years of proven mine engineering experience in open pit operations.
• At least 3 years in a senior supervisory role within a technical department.
• Advanced degree is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
• Lead and develop the mine planning team of planners and engineers.
• Ensure plans are practical, economical and compliant with standards and regulations.
• Manage the mine planning budget and resource allocation.
• Provide regular reports to the Principal Engineer and management.
• Participate in the Copper World Integrated project team and support project delivery.
• Identify and implement improvements to planning processes for safety and efficiency.
• Assess risks for all tasks and ensure controls are in place.
