Job summary

Hudbay is seeking a Senior Short-Term Planning Superintendent in Tucson, AZ, to lead detailed mine planning and scheduling for open pit operations. The role oversees a planning team and drives efficiency while enforcing health, safety, and regulatory standards.

You will review data, develop realistic plans, manage budgets, and support the Copper World Integrated project, reporting to the Principal Engineer. Strong experience in open pit mines and leadership is required.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate degree is a strong asset.
• Ten years of proven experience in mine engineering in open pit operations, including at least three years in a senior supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans and schedules for open pit operations.
• Lead and develop the mine planning team of engineers and planners.
• Optimize operational efficiency while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Manage the mine planning budget and resource allocation.
• Support the Copper World Integrated project team and report to the Principal Engineer.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in mine planning processes and safety.
• Assess and control risks for all planning tasks and incidents.
