Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Associate of Ontology and Data Modeling in Richmond, VA to develop, implement and govern enterprise ontologies and data models supporting the company’s data strategy.

You will collaborate with Finance Products and Data Solutions, technology, product teams, and other stakeholders to standardize data, map ontologies, and apply semantic technologies across Capital One products and services.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science, engineering, library science, ontology, semantics or related field.
At least 2 years’ experience in metadata field or a masters’ degree in related areas.
Experience with W3C standards and linked data tools (JSON, XML, RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS).
Experience with ontology and linked data tools (Protégé, TopQuadrant, PoolParty, Stardog, AnzoGraph, Neptune, Data.World).
Experience with SQL, SPARQL, or related query languages.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement and govern ontologies and data models with stakeholders.
Contribute to data integration and harmonization with upper and domain ontologies.
Advocate value of ontologies, semantics, and standardization across business.
Partner with Technology, ML, and teams to integrate semantic tech into products.
Analyze and implement knowledge organization strategies using machine learning tools.
Monitor industry developments in ontology, data modeling, and ML.
Adhere to W3C standards such as RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS, SHACL.
Develop standards and guidance for ontology and data standardization at Capital One.
Test and troubleshoot models and systems; manage other projects as assigned.
