Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineer to work embedded with a strategic customer, guiding capacity from delivery through production. You will collaborate with Cloudflare’s data center, hardware, and network teams to ensure scalable compute capacity is available, validated, and ready.

The role emphasizes hands-on production work, cross-team alignment, and proactive incident response.

Qualifications

• Infrastructure/SRE background with scale experience.
• Capacity and fleet operations experience provisioning and managing capacity.
• Hardware fluency including server hardware, firmware and diagnostics.
• Strong Linux systems and networking knowledge.
• Automation skills and IaC tooling knowledge.
• Experience owning production services and incident response.
• Familiarity with observability tooling and metrics collection.
• Exposure to Kubernetes or similar platforms.
• Interest in AI-augmented workflows to improve automation.
• Ability to coordinate multi-team delivery across regions.
• Proactive problem-solving and strong communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead bringing new compute capacity online for customers with planning and validation.
• Validate hardware against specs, define acceptance criteria and testing workflows.
• Promote standards, monitoring, alerts, and runbooks for production systems.
• Coordinate across infrastructure, hardware, data center, supply chain, and customer teams.
• Serve as primary technical contact for customer infrastructure and direction.
• Engage in incident response, blameless post-incident reviews, and improvements.
• Develop automation and tooling for provisioning, validation, and fleet management.
• Forecast capacity needs with the customer and identify constraints.
• Surface operational issues to product and infrastructure teams for roadmaps.
• Build trusted relationships with senior customer and Cloudflare engineers.
• Spend time on-site with customer engineering teams to strengthen partnership.
