Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking Senior Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineers who operate where our network meets customer impact. You will be embedded with a strategic customer, guiding capacity from delivery to production and coordinating with Cloudflare's data center, hardware, and software teams to ensure scalable, reliable compute capacity.

You’ll bridge Cloudflare infrastructure with the customer’s engineering org, maintaining a shared vision, removing roadblocks, and feeding real-world insights

Qualifications

• Solid experience in infrastructure engineering, SRE, or production engineering.
• Experience bringing server capacity online, provisioning, imaging and fleet lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with server hardware, firmware, BMC/IPMI/Redfish, diagnostics, and validation standards.
• Strong Linux systems and networking knowledge plus basic data center topology awareness.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Rust and IaC/configuration tools (Terraform, Ansible, Salt).
• Experience with mission-critical services, on-call rotations, and incident response.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging (Prometheus, Grafana) and Kubernetes/orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Lead capacity onboarding and delivery, planning, provisioning, validation, and handover to production.
• Validate hardware against specifications and define acceptance criteria and workflows.
• Champion standards, security, observability, and runbooks for production systems.
• Coordinate across infrastructure, hardware, data center, supply chain, and customer teams.
• Serve as primary technical contact for customer infrastructure, guiding technical direction.
• Engage in incident response and blameless post-incident improvements.
• Develop automation and tooling for provisioning, validation, and fleet management.
• Forecast capacity with the customer and identify constraints proactively.
• Surface real-world issues to inform product roadmaps and platform improvements.
• Manage strategic relationships with senior stakeholders across organizations.
• Spend time on-site at customer offices to strengthen partnership and communication.
