Job summary

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) seeks a senior Online Community Manager to lead growth, engagement, and optimization of ASCE's Higher Logic-powered communities. You will set strategy, oversee administration, and collaborate with membership, communications, and chapters to deliver greater member value.

The role emphasizes analytics, governance, and delivering vibrant digital experiences for engineers and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience managing online communities, member engagement programs, or digital networks.
• Hands-on experience administering Higher Logic Thrive or a comparable online community platform.
• Strong understanding of community management, moderation practices, and digital engagement strategies.
• Experience using analytics and reporting tools to measure adoption, participation, and engagement.
• Excellent communication, writing, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
• Experience working with associations, nonprofits, or volunteer-driven organizations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute online community strategies that increase participation, engagement, and member value.
• Manage discussions, community groups, resource libraries, permissions, moderation settings, notifications, and member access.
• Create engagement campaigns, discussion prompts, announcements, and community resources.
• Moderate community conversations and ensure adherence to community standards and governance practices.
• Identify and support community champions, volunteers, ambassadors, and power users.
• Monitor participation trends and engagement metrics, using analytics to drive continuous improvement.
• Administer the Higher Logic platform, including community configurations, libraries, user roles, permissions, and communication tools.
• Serve as ASCE's primary liaison with Higher Logic support and coordinate platform enhancements, issue resolution, and user support.
• Partner with membership, communications, marketing, chapters, committees, and event teams to support organizational initiatives and member engagement goals.
