The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Ambulatory Treatment Center Pharmacy team in Houston. The role focuses on sterile compounding, IV preparation, and dose verification to support high-volume outpatient cancer care.

Ideal candidates hold a High School Diploma and 2 years of pharmacy technician experience in hospital, infusion, or retail settings, with ACPE IV Sterile Products certification and Texas license preferred upon hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Two years of college credit preferred.
• Required: 2 years Pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center or retail pharmacy.
• PHTR - Reg Pharmacy Technician Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) required upon hire.
• Preferred: CPHT - Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) upon hire.
• Preferred: IV Sterile Products Certification approved by ACPE upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in sterile compounding and preparation per SOPs (USP 797, USP 800, NIOSH).
• Performs hazardous and non-hazardous sterile preparation and investigational drug preparation.
• Prepares intravenous doses; documents thoroughly on investigational cards.
• Maintains time-efficient productivity and accuracy.
• Reports chemotherapy spills and uses closed systems correctly.
• Maintains system proficiency (BD Cato, Phacts, OneConnect, controlled access cabinets).
