Job summary

Tutor-Perini Corporation is leading the Brooklyn Jail Project, a ~ $3B facility. The Construction General Superintendent will oversee all on-site operations, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and compliance with design specifications and security requirements.

You will lead field staff and subcontractors, coordinate with project management, and maintain quality, safety, and regulatory standards while reading drawings and coordinating with inspectors and authorities.

Qualifications

• 20+ years experience as a Superintendent in commercial or institutional construction.
• Strong knowledge of structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Experience managing complex, secure, or high-risk construction environments.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specs, and schedules.
• Excellent leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations.
• Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam).
• High School Diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Direct, coordinate, and supervise all on-site construction activities for the jail project.
• Manage and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to ensure efficient workflow.
• Conduct daily meetings and briefings with crews to outline tasks, safety requirements, and goals.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant job site at all times.
• Ensure all activities comply with correctional facility security standards and protocols.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, detention facility officials, and security consultants on access control and building requirements.
• Enforce strict adherence to state, federal, and local building codes.
• Monitor workmanship, materials, and installation to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Prepare daily reports, logs, photos, and documentation of job site activities.
• Assist project management with look-ahead schedules, logistics planning, and progress updates.
• Enforce OSHA safety policies and promote a safety-first culture.
• Serve as the primary on-site contact between subcontractors, inspectors, and the project team.
