Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Observability Platform Engineering to drive strategy, delivery, and reliability across the enterprise. You will lead high-performing teams, advance OpenTelemetry adoption, and partner with Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, and Product teams to elevate platform visibility and reliability.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in software engineering, 4+ years building observability platforms, and 3+ years in people management, with hands-on cloud

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years building observability platforms, developer platforms, or other internal engineering infrastructure.
• 3+ years directly managing engineering teams, including hiring and performance management.
• 3+ years operating a product (or platform) in production at scale, including multi-cloud or multi-cluster environments, with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, and OpenTelemetry
• Experience defining and managing SLIs, SLOs, and reliability programs
• Experience leading teams in Agile or Scrum environments

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the observability platform strategy, roadmap, and operating model.
• Lead and develop engineering teams responsible for observability, reliability, and platform services.
• Drive enterprise adoption of OpenTelemetry, monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting standards.
• Partner with Engineering, Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, and Product teams to improve platform reliability and operational visibility.
• Lead modernization initiatives focused on automation, self-service capabilities, cloud transformation, and AI-driven operations.
• Define and track KPIs, platform health metrics, and engineering effectiveness measures.
• Manage platform investments, vendor relationships, and capacity planning.
