Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager Observability Platform Engineering to lead the strategy, delivery, and operational excellence of our enterprise observability platform. This role drives modern observability practices, reliability engineering, and cloud-native capabilities to improve service availability and customer experience across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years building observability platforms, developer platforms, or internal engineering infrastructure.
• 3+ years directly managing engineering teams.
• 3+ years operating a product (or platform) in production at scale, including multi-cloud or multi-cluster environments, with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, and OpenTelemetry.
• Experience defining and managing SLIs, SLOs, and reliability programs.
• Experience leading teams in Agile or Scrum environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the observability platform strategy, roadmap, and operating model.
• Lead and develop engineering teams responsible for observability, reliability, and platform services.
• Drive enterprise adoption of OpenTelemetry, monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting standards.
• Partner with Engineering, Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, and Product teams to improve platform reliability and operational visibility.
• Lead modernization initiatives focused on automation, self-service capabilities, cloud transformation, and AI‑driven operations.
• Define and track KPIs, platform health metrics, and engineering effectiveness measures.
• Manage platform investments, vendor relationships, and capacity planning.
