Job summary

Smartsheet is seeking an experienced leader to advance our observability capabilities across regions. You will ship end-to-end observability for metrics, logs, traces, and events, accelerating insights and reliability.

You will own the paved road for instrumenting new services, develop templates and CI checks, and guide large-scale telemetry pipelines with Go, Python, Java/Kotlin, or TypeScript/Node.js and OpenTelemetry on AWS/Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building distributed systems, platform services, or observability infrastructure.
• Deep experience with Go, Python, Java/Kotlin, or TypeScript/Node.js, plus OpenTelemetry and AWS/Kubernetes.
• Proven ability to lead large projects autonomously and drive adoption of internal platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship end-to-end observability capability for metrics, logs, traces, and events across multiple regions.
• Build shared instrumentation libraries, collector deployments, and telemetry pipelines at scale.
• Own the paved road for instrumenting new services, including scaffolding, templates, and CI checks.
