Job summary

System One seeks a Senior Safety Methods Engineer to perform design and licensing analyses and develop methodologies for the Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor program. You will model fuel degradation, perform transient analyses, and contribute to safety analyses with engineers across disciplines.

The role involves creating evaluation models, supporting regulatory interactions, and maintaining documentation for analysis methods and records, all in a fully remote contract setting.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in nuclear engineering or related field.
• Experience in nuclear systems thermal-hydraulic analysis, fuel performance, reactor dynamics.
• Experience with transient and accident analysis codes.
• Familiarity with RG 1.203 and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop methodologies using a graded approach to the Evaluation Model Development and Assessment Process (EMDAP).
• Develop assessment bases and evaluate the model against benchmarks and tests.
• Create analytical and computational models with safety analysis engineers.
• Perform transient and accident analyses for the SFR program.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to define safety and design requirements.
• Maintain analysis of record and methodology documentation.
• Review analyses and related engineering media.
• Contribute to capabilities for transient and accident analyses.
