Job summary

System One, Inc. is seeking a Senior Safety Methods Engineer in Bellevue, WA for a 12-month contract. The role focuses on developing and qualifying system-level thermal-hydraulic analysis methods to support reactor safety and licensing work.

Expect to run steady-state and transient analyses, implement closure models, and drive method improvements with cross-disciplinary collaboration. The position requires 3+ years in thermal-hydraulic modeling, proficiency with RELAP5 3D, GOTHIC, SAS, Python,

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical Engineering, or similar field.
• 3+ years of experience in system-level thermal hydraulic modeling for nuclear or complex energy systems.
• Experience with RELAP5 3D, GOTHIC, SAS or equivalent tools.
• Proven experience in developing or improving analysis methods and numerical schemes.
• Familiarity with NQA-1 quality assurance standards for modeling workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop methods for Licensing Basis Events analyses for reactor design and licensing.
• Contribute SME input to Sodium Fast Reactor programs and related projects.
• Develop system-level thermal hydraulic analysis methods and closure models.
• Perform steady-state and transient analyses to assess models and fidelity needs.
• Support method qualification through verification and performance characterization.
• Document methodologies and numerical performance for licensing and design support.
• Collaborate across disciplines to integrate methods with design and safety workflows.
• Apply SQA/NQA-1 practices ensuring traceability and reproducibility.
