Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Cary, NC is seeking a senior mechanical/nuclear engineer to design and review nuclear power plant systems, modify packages, prepare drawings, and evaluate vendor bids. The position is hybrid and requires in-office work three days per week.

Ideal candidates have ABET-accredited degrees and 10+ years in the nuclear industry, with the possibility of PE licensing benefiting the role. You will also develop cost estimates and lead engineering teams on client projects.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, or General Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants
• PE license is beneficial, but not required

Responsibilities

• Modifications packages for operating nuclear power plants
• Functional mechanical drawings and drawings for nuclear power plant systems
• Engineering analyses and evaluations to support plant modifications and operation
• Technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment
• Vendor bid evaluations for plant equipment
• Studies and options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants
• Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client work scopes
• Lead engineering project teams
