Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a mechanical engineer to design, analyze, and support spent fuel shipping containers. You will perform mechanical system design, finite element analysis, and collaborate with a diverse team to advance the Reactor Servicing program.

The role focuses on input to real-world problems with rapid design cycles, requiring cross-functional teamwork and a drive to deliver reliable solutions for naval propulsion systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related technical, engineering or science field with years of relevant experience (as outlined).
• Master's degree with fewer years of experience acceptable; Doctorate with at least 1 year.
• Current senior roles related to NNPP/NNL may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical system and hardware design and finite element analysis.
• Support the fleet of spent fuel containers and related components.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, project managers and shipyards to advance program goals.
