Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a mechanical engineer to join the M-290/M140 Design and Analysis Unit in Reactor Servicing Systems. You will perform mechanical system and hardware design, and finite element analysis to support spent fuel shipping containers.

You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, scientists, project managers, and shipyards to deliver solutions that advance the program's mission, with design cycles from weeks to months.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related technical field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
Doctorate with 1+ year of relevant experience.
Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at NN L currently.

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical system and hardware design and finite element analysis for spent fuel containers.
Collaborate with engineers, scientists, project managers, and shipyards to support the Naval Reactors program.
