Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated engineer to perform plant analysis in support of the next nuclear-powered submarine design. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge nuclear technology while supporting the US Navy.

Responsibilities include analyzing designs, developing protective features, and building reactor plant models for early studies; candidates should have strong writing skills and coursework in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related engineering or science field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Master's degree in related field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Doctorate in related field with 1+ year of relevant experience.
• Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or RPCO Engineer at the Company.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis to support component/system design and early procedure development.
• Develop protective features to improve operability, cost, and thermal margin for the next reactor design.
• Develop a reactor plant model to support early design studies.
