Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an experienced I&C Design Engineer to join the Nuclear Power Group at the Fermi 2 site in Newport, MI. You will design, review, and integrate instrumentation and control systems, traveling regularly to the plant to support projects and site walks.

The role requires 5+ years in I&C design, a BS or MS in ABET-accredited electrical or mechanical engineering, and the ability to collaborate with engineers, vendors, and clients while meeting schedule and budget goals.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited program.
• Five or more years of experience in I&C Design Engineering.
• Experience with selection of equipment, control philosophy, and preparation and assembly of design packages, calculations, and specifications.
• Experience with controls system design including applications for equipment such as turbines, pumps, feedwater controls, and data displays.
• PE license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Travel to the Fermi Nuclear Generating Station in Newport, MI on a regular basis.
• Work on the design, modification, and analysis of Instrumentation and Control systems at the Fermi 2 Power Plant.
• Interface with vendors to perform document reviews and prepare equipment purchase specifications.
• Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly to meet client requirements.
• Perform independent reviews of work performed by others, including design documentation, specifications, calculations, and drawings.
• Assist the project manager/director to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
