Job summary

Come and See is seeking a hands-on Controller to own the accounting operation behind our mission. You will manage the close, controls, audit, and financial reporting for a not-for-profit using US GAAP (ASC 958) and collaborate with the CFO and Board.

You will lead a distributed finance team, integrate AI-powered tools to streamline reconciliations and analyses, and ensure accurate donor reporting, multi‑state payroll, and compliant registrations. Remote US-based welcomed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and an active CPA license.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, incl. 5+ years in not-for-profit.
• Experience leading accounting staff; not-for-profit GAAP depth.
• Full-cycle close and external audit ownership; internal controls design.
• Multi-state payroll tax; advanced Excel and ERP proficiency.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate analysis with judgment in review.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close under US GAAP for nonprofits (ASC 958).
• Manage general ledger, chart of accounts, and asset classifications.
• Lead reporting, budgeting, and board-level financial communication.
• Oversee contributions, grants, and complex transactions with reconciliations.
• Maintain donor CRM integration and project-level accounting.
• Lead external audit and strengthen internal controls.
• Oversee payroll approvals and accounts payable; 1099s.
• Modernize finance via AI-enabled automation and tools.
