Job summary

Americares is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations, GAAP reporting, Form 990, and audit readiness. You will manage the General Ledger Accounting team, drive process improvements, and coach staff in a not-for-profit environment.

In this exempt full-time role, you will own month-end close, coordinate annual audits, and partner with departments to ensure timely, accurate financial statements and strong internal controls while upholding Americares values.

Qualifications

• Not-for-profit accounting and GAAP experience.
• Experience with Form 990 filings.
• Audits coordination experience.
• Strong Excel and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop Accounting staff and support growth.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ledgers.
• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting.
• Lead Form 990 preparation and audits.
• Improve processes and internal controls.
• Collaborate across departments and uphold values.
• Serve as backup for AP Manager.
