Job summary

Nebraska Children's Home Society seeks a Controller to manage day-to-day accounting operations, close processes, and accurate financial reporting, reporting to the CFO. You will ensure GAAP compliance, prepare financial statements, and coordinate audits for the organization and its foundation.

The role includes supervising accounting staff or contracted services, overseeing grant and restricted funds, and leading budgeting for programs, while ensuring internal controls and policy adherence

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required.
• CPA or MBA in accounting/business preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience including financial reporting and close processes.
• 3–5 years of supervisory experience or managing external accounting services.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting, grants, and audit coordination.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, GL maintenance, AP/AR, and reconciliations.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
• Coordinate annual financial and grant/audit fieldwork with external auditors.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and reporting for CFO.
• Manage budget development and monitoring for operational programs.
