Job summary

Family Life Academy Charter Schools is seeking a Controller to oversee daily accounting operations, payroll administration, and annual audits. The role ensures strong internal controls and accurate financial reporting across departments, supporting governance with timely statements.

You will manage period-end closes, coordinate with external auditors, and train staff on financial policies, while maintaining compliance with non-profit accounting provisions and reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Education: BS/BA in Accounting required.
• Certification: Active NYS CPA license strongly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in accounting/finance, with non-profit or charter school focus.
• Technical Skills: GAAP for non-profits, and proficiency in accounting software and payroll systems.
• Core Competencies: Strong organization, analytical skills, and communication of complex financial info.

Responsibilities

• Oversee A/P and A/R functions and reconcile collections.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare financial statements for management and Board.
• Develop financial reports for regulators and stakeholders.
• Lead internal controls and compliance with policies.
