Job summary

Friends of the Children is seeking a Controller – Network Financial Service to lead a team of senior and staff accountants, overseeing general ledger, reporting, and audits for chapters using National services.

The role is remote and requires an active CPA, with 7–10 years of financial accounting or audit experience, preferably in nonprofit settings. You will drive process improvements while supporting budgeting and grant reporting across the network.

Qualifications

• CPA license required.
• 7–10 years of financial accounting or audit experience.
• Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
• Strong GAAP/internal controls knowledge.
• Experience supporting multiple business entities.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
• Highly organized and efficient with overlapping deadlines.
• Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting operations and financial services for network chapters.
• Hire, train, and retain skilled accounting staff.
• Review chapter financial statements, entries and reconciliations.
• Oversee monthly close and annual audits for chapters.
• Support budgeting and cash projections across the network.
• Assist with Form 990 documentation and audit responses.
• Lead monthly financial calls with executives and boards.
• Maintain fixed asset software and year-end rollover.
