Job summary

The Mutual Group in Missouri seeks a Senior Non-Admitted Underwriter to independently underwrite complex non-admitted commercial accounts, pricing and structuring with delegated authority to drive profitable growth and portfolio quality.

You will collaborate with distribution partners, manage a sophisticated portfolio, and mentor junior underwriters. Hybrid work arrangement with some in-office days and travel to agency partners.

Qualifications

• Experience underwriting commercial risks with non-admitted or surplus lines.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, coverage, pricing, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment within delegated authority.
• Ability to interpret portfolio data and translate insights into action.
• Willingness to travel regularly for agency, territory, and industry engagement.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex non-admitted new and renewal accounts with advanced judgment.
• Determine pricing, coverage, terms, limits, and deductibles within authority.
• Drive corrective actions for underperforming accounts and ensure compliant execution of transactions.
• Steer portfolio strategy to meet growth, retention, profitability targets.
• Develop and manage relationships with key distribution partners.
