Job summary

Giga Energy is seeking a Senior Networking Engineer to own data center networking design and implementation. You will oversee construction through commissioning and operate networks for colocation, including security, cross-connects, and OT integration.

This remote role requires heavy travel to active sites for design reviews, testing, and turnover, with offices in San Francisco, Long Beach, and Houston for onsite collaboration.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and operating enterprise or data center networks, including at least one build from design to live operation.
• Hands-on depth in routing and switching: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, spanning tree, link aggregation; vendor-agnostic depth preferred.
• Hands-on network security experience: firewall policy design, IDS/IPS, segmentation and secure remote access.
• Structured cabling fluency: fiber types, loss budgets, pathway planning, standards like TIA-942.
• Ability to read and mark up construction drawings, riser diagrams, floor plans; review through design review with contractors.
• Willingness to travel regularly to active sites.

Responsibilities

• Own network architecture across the portfolio: core and distribution switching, routing, out-of-band management, DNS, firewalls, remote access.
• Design the facility's physical layer: structured cabling, pathways, cable management, cabinet standards, fiber/copper plant.
• Own network security at sites: firewall policy lifecycle, IDS/IPS, segmentation, secure remote access, logging for monitoring.
• Build the colocation network: tenant handoffs, cross-connect provisioning, repeatable onboarding of tenants.
• Collaborate with OT and controls teams on IT/OT segmentation and reliable device-to-server paths.
• Write and review standards, runbooks, BOMs; own network commissioning, testing, labeling, as-built drawings.
