Job summary

Giga Energy is hiring a Senior Networking Engineer to own data center networking design and implementation across multiple sites. From construction through commissioning to operations, you will define core/ distribution switching, routing, and security architectures, while ensuring repeatable, scalable deployments and strong OT/IT segmentation.

You will design the physical cabling, manage cross-connects, and collaborate with controls and security teams to deliver secure, reliable networks.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and operating enterprise or data center networks, including at least one build from design through commissioning into live operation.
• Hands-on routing and switching: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, STP, LAG, firewalls, and OOB management; vendor-agnostic depth.
• Hands-on network security: firewall policy design, IDS/IPS, segmentation with least- privilege access, secure remote access, and logging.
• Structured cabling fluency: fiber types, loss budgets, TIA-942 or equivalent, cabling design review.
• Ability to read and mark up construction drawings, riser diagrams, and floor plans for design reviews.
• Experience operating a production network with downtime risk; change control and live issue troubleshooting.
• Experience setting network standards from scratch rather than inheriting them.
• Willingness to travel to active sites regularly.
• Bachelor's degree requirement or equivalent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Own network architecture across the portfolio: core and distribution switching, routing, OOB management, DNS, firewalls, and reference designs.
• Design the physical layer inside the facility: structured cabling, pathways, cable management, cabinet standards, fiber/copper plant.
• Own network security at sites: firewall rule lifecycle, IDS/IPS, segmentation, secure remote access, and logs in monitoring stack.
• Build the colocation network: tenant handoffs, cross-connect provisioning, repeatable tenant connectivity deployments.
• Partner with controls and security teams on OT networking: IT/OT segmentation, SCADA/BMS zones, reliable device-to-server paths.
• Write specs, drawings, and BOMs for contractors; review submittals to ensure compliance.
• Own network commissioning: point-to-point tests, fiber certification, labeling, as-built drawings, turnover docs.
• Operate production network: monitoring, capacity planning, change control, firmware management, backups, RCA.
• Participate in on-call rotations and act as escalation for on-site network incidents.
• Create/runbooks and standards so subsequent sites engineers can repeat the work.
