Eligible applicants may be hired for up to 90 days with potential for permanent County employment. Initial assessment weights 100%; successful candidates may transition to permanent appointments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field and three years of LAN design, configuration, and administration.
• Option II: One year of experience at the level of Network Systems Administrator II.
• Option III: Four years of recent, progressively responsible LAN design, configuration, and administration.
• You MUST meet the above requirement(s) to be appointed.
• A valid California Class C Driver License or ability to use an alternative transport.

Responsibilities

• Performs the more complex network and server administration functions, including configuring, installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware and operating systems.
• Installs, configures, troubleshoots, tests and optimizes moderate to complex network software and physical infrastructure designs.
• Designs and implements network security solutions including end user roles, groups, trust relationships, access rights, and directories.
• Performs VLAN configuration to support services over IP (audio, video, data).
• Analyzes network resource utilization and implements solutions to ensure applications are accessible and functioning.
• Identifies and recommends changes to improve performance, reliability and availability.
• Develops procedures for network management and resource allocation.
• Plans hardware upgrades for network servers, gateways, and telecom devices.
• Identifies and resolves complex network problems and uses network management tools.
• Maintains network security per policies and documents information security processes.
• Supports backup and recovery solutions and tracks network assets.
• Leads a network support team as needed.
