Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network to architect, build and support scalable network solutions for Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will collaborate with software development, operations, and Compute stakeholders to drive reliability and performance. The role requires 12+ years of experience, a CS degree, deep TCP/IP/BGP knowledge, and proficiency with Python, Bash, Go, Rust, and CI/CD tools.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience in SRE/Network roles.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing and firewall concepts.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet.
• Experience with Linux networking and open source software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
• Experience developing applications and scripting in Python, Bash, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD.

Responsibilities

• Architecting, building and supporting solutions that foster efficient and streamlined processes.
• Mentor to team members, driving code quality standards and architectural decisions.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams on deployment standards and updating documentation.
• Building/testing/designing automation tools (Bash scripts, Python programs, Slack bots).
• Defining SLOs for network infrastructure within Akamai Connected Cloud for high availability and performance.
• Participating in on-call rotations and troubleshooting complex network issues.
