Job summary

Cloudflare in Austin is seeking an experienced Egress software engineer to help build scalable network services powering our edge platform. You will design, implement, and deploy data plane components across Go and Rust, collaborating with SRE and Network teams to ensure reliability and performance.

You will work across the full software lifecycle, writing specs, code, tests, and runbooks while operating in a Run What You Build model and contributing to on-call rotations to maintain uptime.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Go or Rust; contribute to scalable networking software.
• Strong grasp of networking layers 3-4 and related protocols.
• Experience with HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
• Experience building secure, highly-available distributed systems.
• Able to debug complex systems and collaborate effectively.
• Willingness to adopt AI tools in the engineering workflow.

Responsibilities

• Make daily progress on engineering tasks including designing systems, writing specs, and pushing code via git.
• Participate in daily and ad-hoc team meetings to share progress.
• Join on-call rotation to ensure uptime of production systems.
• Investigate customer issues escalated to the Egress team for triage and resolution.
• Respond to questions from other teams in internal/public chat rooms.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to analyze codebases and production data to accelerate problem-solving.
