Job summary

Cloudflare in Austin is seeking an experienced Egress engineer to own a cutting edge network software infrastructure. You will contribute to connecting Cloudflare's vast product portfolio to destinations across the network, including WARP and iCloud Private Relay.

You’ll collaborate with multiple engineering teams, work with Rust/Go, Kubernetes, and databases, and participate in deployment, on-call, and monitoring tasks at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on software engineering in distributed, production‑critical systems.
• Proficiency in Go or Rust and a desire to improve in both languages.
• Strong grasp of networking in OSI Layers 3–4.
• Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
• Experience building secure, highly available distributed systems.
• Strong debugging, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Interest in HTTP networking, VPN tech, and AI-assisted dev tooling.

Responsibilities

• Make daily progress on engineering tasks, design systems, write specs, code, and release plans.
• Participate in daily/adhoc meetings to share progress and collaborate.
• Join the team on-call schedule to ensure uptime of production systems.
• Investigate customer issues escalated to the Egress team for triage and resolution.
• Respond to questions from other teams in the Egress team’s chat room.
• Use AI-powered tools to analyze and extend codebases and production data.
