Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Master Network & Security Engineer to lead design, operation, and optimization of enterprise network-security infrastructure. You will manage Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, and Strata Logging Service, while collaborating with SOC and cloud teams.

You will serve as escalation point for complex incidents, design HA solutions, and mentor engineers in a fully remote role across the United States.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering and security.
• 6+ years hands-on Palo Alto Networks firewall experience in a production enterprise.
• Advanced operational experience with Palo Alto Panorama, multi-device policy management & upgrades.
• Strong hands-on TCP/IP, routing, NAT, VPNs, and packet-level troubleshooting.
• Experience with Cortex XSIAM and Strata Logging Service for security event analysis.
• Ability to lead technical design discussions, manage multiple workstreams, and communicate risks.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, administration, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments.
• Own centralized firewall management through Palo Alto Panorama, devices groups, templates, upgrades, and backups.
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust, least-privilege principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot security zones, NAT, VPN, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation using VLANs, subinterfaces, and routing controls.
• Develop secure controls for traffic between users, servers, and cloud resources.
• Architect and test High Availability deployments and perform failover recovery.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership during incidents.
