Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Network & Security Engineer to design, operate, and optimize enterprise network-security infrastructure. The role focuses on Palo Alto Networks NGFWs, Panorama, HA, Cisco switching, and Cortex XSIAM integration.

The engineer will serve as a technical escalation point for complex incidents, lead architecture initiatives, and partner with SOC, cloud, and leadership teams to reduce risk and maintain highly available services. This is a fully remote US-based position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.
• 8+ years in network engineering, network security, firewall administration, or security infra operations.
• 5+ years Palo Alto Networks firewall experience in a production enterprise.
• Advanced Palo Alto Panorama experience with multi-device policy management and upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, administration, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments.
• Own centralized firewall management through Panorama, including templates and device groups.
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust, least-privilege principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot security zones, NAT, VPN, URL Filtering, and Threat Prevention.
• Lead network-segmentation and microsegmentation initiatives using security zones and VLANs.
• Architect and troubleshoot HA deployments (Active/Passive, Active/Active).
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical projects and security reviews.
