Job summary

CME Group in Chicago is seeking engineers to join our Network Operations team, building and supporting a large, multi‑vendor network across trading floors and data centers.

You will troubleshoot security incidents, optimize multicast and unicast traffic, automate tasks, and collaborate across teams to improve procedures and documentation. A bachelor-level degree or equivalent is required; experience with routing, switching, wireless networks, SDN, and market data feeds is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
• Finance industry experience and/or large-scale unicast/multicast networks a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of OSPF, BGP, STP routing protocols.
• Experience designing or supporting large multicast networks for market data feeds.
• Experience in network monitoring, packet capture tools, or SDN.
• Strong understanding of security best practices (Firewalls, Proxies, SSL, IPsec, 802.1x).
• Experience implementing wireless networks (standards, security, radio placement).
• Fundamental knowledge of load balancers (software/hardware).
• Familiar with scripting languages and automation for ops tasks.
• Big-picture understanding of networking in virtual/hybrid cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead troubleshooting of network issues with cross-department coordination.
• Implement changes focusing on automation, docs, and collaboration.
• Analyze complex issues with internal/external customers using packet captures.
• Coordinate operational acceptance testing for new environments.
• Stay updated on emerging networking technologies for multi-vendor support.
• Evaluate designs and propose improvements.
• Respond to a dynamic global network with config management and docs.
