Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) seeks an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a large-scale wired and wireless network for government projects. The role involves evaluating existing networks, recommending improvements, and coordinating with state/local personnel and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Information systems or related field.
• Strong documentation skills updating JIRA Tickets, Wiki Pages, diagrams.
• Ability to communicate with end users, cross-organizational staff.
• CWNA Certification or equivalent.
• BCNE Certification or equivalent.
• Experience using RF site survey tools such as Ekahau, RF Scanners, Wireshark.
• Knowledge of layer 2 switching, layer 3 routing incl. VLANs, 802.1w, OSPF, VRRP.
• Knowledge of 802.1x, MAC Authentication, ACLs, RADIUS, CA.
• RF and LAN troubleshooting knowledge.
• Working knowledge of Linux, MS Server 2013, VMware.
• Master’s Degree in related discipline.
• 3+ years disaster recovery planning/testing experience.
• Experience with penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, cyber threat analysis.
• Knowledge of Agile/SCUM project management.
• Additional industry certifications/licences.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage NPS network infrastructure.
• Improve infrastructure monitoring and reporting with network management software.
• Develop, maintain and deliver network infrastructure documentation for NPS.
• Review best practices and provide architecture/design/management recommendations.
• Administer Cloudpath onboarding; monitor wireless health; apply security patches.
• Assess NPS network and recommend improvements.
• Define and conduct testing for new infrastructure projects.
• Implement technology solutions within NPS network environment.
• Provide design guidance on network solutions for NPS infrastructure projects.
• Provide informal training and knowledge transfer to NPS resources.
