Job summary

Evolving Solution Services is seeking a Telecommunication Technician in Fairfax, VA to install, maintain, and troubleshoot network cabling systems. You will work with copper and fiber, ensuring compliant documentation and safe practices.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience, current BICSI certification or the ability to obtain within 14 days, and proficiency with testing tools. A strong team and independent work capability are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of proven telecommunication technician experience.
• Current BICSI certification or acquire within 14 days of hiring.
• Experience with copper and fiber cable installation.
• Experience with the installation of cable trays and cabinets.
• Strong knowledge of network cabling standards (TIA/EIA, ANSI, BICSI).
• Proficiency in cable testing and certification tools (cable analyzers, OTDRs).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift and carry heavy cabling equipment and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test network cabling, including copper and fiber optic cables.
• Follow industry standards and best practices for cable routing, labeling, and documentation.
• Collaborate with network engineers and IT teams to ensure proper installation and connectivity of network devices.
• Perform cable moves, adds, and changes as required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues related to cabling infrastructure.
• Conduct cable testing and certification to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of cabling layouts, connections, and configurations.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and best practices during all cabling installations and maintenance activities.
• Assist with inventory management of cabling materials and equipment.
• Other tasks assigned by the Project Manager.
