Job summary

Serco is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Maritime Engineering Operation in Arlington, VA. You will design and specify marine electrical systems, lead documentation, and support shipboard deployments with a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

Qualified candidates have 10+ years in marine electrical design, a relevant degree, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience designing marine electrical systems with professional engineering firms or shipyards.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles and industry standards (IEC, IEEE, ABS, SOLAS, 46 CFR).
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Experience with electrical drawings, load analyses, cable schedules, and SOW drafting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and specification of marine electrical systems (power generation, distribution, propulsion, automation).
• Produce and review electrical design artifacts (SLDs, schematics, load analyses, cable schedules).
• Provide project cost and schedule estimates.
• Ensure compliance with marine standards and class rules and support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with mechanical, naval, and software teams.
• Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, and classification societies.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
